According to a 2017 study, construction workers are among the most susceptible to opioid abuse-second only to food service industry employees. Additionally, the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) estimate the total “economic burden” of prescription opioid misuse in the United States is $78.5 billion per year, clearly costing every firm money and threatening lives.
Because this crisis has so severely impacted our Industry, ELECTRI International, with our Chapter’s strong urging, has decided to take a closer look at it. To that end, ELECTRI has released the following White Paper in order to raise awareness and share the government’s recent steps to limit access to opioids.
