Harrisburg, PA– On March 20th to 21st, the Penn-Del-Jersey and Western PA Chapters of NECA met for their first State Advocacy Day at the Pennsylvania Capitol. Their goal was to facilitate introductions between the PA General Assembly and contractor members and provide support for both Chapters on their top legislative issues.
The Chapters advocated for practical legislation that promotes a healthy economy and family-sustaining jobs. Specifically, they advocated for prompt payment legislation to help contractors get paid for the work they perform (HB 566) and for Pennsylvania to enable private investment in energy upgrades for commercial properties via Property Assessed Clean Energy (PACE) Financing (SB 234.) They also acquainted legislators with NECA’s labor-management model so that they could understand the workforce-related legislation that matters to them.
The event kicked off with a reception at the Hilton Harrisburg where attendees had a chance to network. During dinner, attendees were able to ask questions during a legislative briefing presented by the Chapters. The next day, everyone rose early to meet with their elected officials at the Capitol building. It was a busy day and the Chapters reached over thirty legislative offices.
Between the reception and the legislative meetings, the Chapters reached the following offices: Senators Alloway, Argall, Aument, Bartolotta, Blake, Boscola, Costa, Dinniman, Greenleaf, McIlhinney, Reschenthaler, Scavello, DiSanto, Tomlinson, Vogel, Vulakovich, and Ward and Representatives Bloom, Briggs, Cox, Daley, Driscoll, English, Hahn, Harper, Jozwiak, Milne, Neilson, Petrarca, Petri, Sainato, and Santora.
Attendees from NECA included Luke Cunningham, Dan Hahn, Natalie Linder, Frank Holleran, Bob Duff, Randy Roberts, Kevin Oliver, Curt Fox, Joe Kaluhiokalani, Don Culbertson, Rob Bresnahan, Mike Touey, Helen Levins, Tom McNulty, Tony Ennis, Ken MacDougall, Rob Triplett, Joe Uliana, Mike Oscar, and Jeff Scarpello from the Penn-Del-Jersey Chapter. Jonathan Bruce, Bob Bruce, Bob Dagostino, Greg McQuaide, Mark Mikec, Tim Schultheis, Chad Jones, and Joelle Salerno attended from the Western PA Chapter. Jay Jones attended from NECA National.
Both Chapters thank their members for taking time away from their businesses to meet with legislators to discuss our top issues.
