In a business environment that is increasingly volatile and complex, effective leadership is more critical than ever to build, run, and grow a sustainable electrical contracting business.
As the industry evolves, NECA is proud to present Electrical Contractor Leadership 101, a one-day workshop that will be held on Thursday, March 9 at the Chapter office in King of Prussia. Individuals at member companies who currently serve in a leadership role or who may be transitioning into a leadership role can register here.
Sponsored by associate member Graybar and led by well-known industry expert Mike Callanan of Michael Callanan Consulting Company, the eight-hour course focuses on various facets of leadership in the context of the electrical contracting business. This session marks the first time the program has been made available in a streamlined, one-day format, enabling participants to benefit from an intensive learning experience while minimizing time away from work.
The program will cover:
Leadership: Participants will learn about various leadership models and the important role that leaders play in building and running an effective electrical contractor program.
Organizational Culture: The development of a strong organizational culture that is fully aligned with the strategic objectives of the EC business is critical to building a sustainable organization. Participants will learn the elements that contribute to building and changing an organization’s culture.
Change Management : Today, leadership and change management go hand-in-hand. Participants will learn the importance of change management and how to use the most common change management models.
Organizational Learning : Organizations that learn the fastest are the best equipped to compete in the uncertain markets that today’s electrical contractors are forced to compete in. Participants will learn how to improve the learning in their organizations at the individual, group and company levels.
Leadership Development: Perhaps no other program is more important to today’s ECs than the ability to develop their talent and the next generation of leaders. This segment will focus on the Center for Creative Leadership’s “70-20-10” program for leadership development.
Leadership Communication: The ability to effectively communicate in meetings, speeches, and presentations is critical to all leaders. This segment will look at proven methods to increase the ability of leaders to reach their employees.
Strategy & Decision-Making: In a VUCA (Volatile, Uncertain, Complex, and Ambiguous) world, traditional approaches to developing five- and 10-year strategic plans are no longer feasible. This module provides an overview of strategic models and emphasizes new approaches to organizational decision-making.
Negotiations: In this last segment, participants will learn the basics of negotiations and techniques they can employ during the course of day-to-day informal and formal negotiations.
