About NECA

Chapter Overview

The Penn-Del-Jersey Chapter is a regional chapter of the National Electrical Contractors Association (NECA). Our headquarters is located in King of Prussia, PA, and our jurisdiction covers eastern Pennsylvania and all of Delaware.

Our jurisdiction is divided into 14 “divisions,” generally distinguished from one another geographically. These divisions are comprised of Contractor Members working within them who meet regularly to discuss issues of local importance. We are comprised of more than 150 Contractor Members and 60 Associate Members. The former have access to numerous member benefits and the latter are offered regular opportunities to connect with our Contractor Members.

Our organization works closely with other NECA Chapters, such as the Western PA, Northern New Jersey, Southern New Jersey, Maryland, and New York Chapters. These relationships allow us to learn from each other and achieve common goals. We also work closely with other trade associations such as the Mechanical & Service Contractors Association (M&SCA), Interior Finish Contractors Association (IFCA), and General Building Contractors Association (GBCA) to name just a few.

Member Benefits

The benefits of NECA membership are many. One of the most notable is our labor relations services. We negotiate on members’ behalf with the various International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers (IBEW) Local Unions in our jurisdiction. Many of our members also serve with Chapter staff as trustees on trust funds jointly managed by NECA and IBEW. Our contractors have a say on important decisions related to multi-employer benefit plans and the education of electrical workers.

We provide members government relations services by tracking and advocating for industry-beneficial legislation at the local, state, and federal levels. We find and develop new business opportunities for members and their workforce. We host educational and safety-related workshops, both online and in-person, to help our contractors remain the most competitive and safest in the nation. Our national organization provides additional opportunities for learning and growth. We host all types of networking events to connect our contractors and Associate Members. Hosted activities range from golf outings to sporting events, and can be as diverse as clay shooting and axe throwing.

Our contractors are recognized annually for excellence in electrical construction and for creating and maintaining safe work environments for their employees. There are also numerous opportunities for recognition from NECA National. The Chapter provides contractors with many digital resources on our website and social media pages. These include educational videos, fact sheets, a mobile application, an online electronic payroll reporting system, links to useful information, news update podcasts, and more. Special interest committees exist in the Chapter to connect and serve members in an individualized fashion. Our Women in NECA, Future Leaders, Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion; and Military Veterans & Service Members Committees are examples.

Through the “NECA Cares” program, the Chapter contributes much to community, charitable, and philanthropic causes each year. Chapter Members may request that the Chapter Board make contributions on their behalf to worthwhile causes. The Penn State NECA Student Chapter is jointly sponsored by the Penn-Del-Jersey and Western PA Chapters of NECA. Our Contractor Members are given opportunities to interact with these students, who are frequently recruited as interns or, after graduation, full-time staff members. Additionally, the children of our Contractor Members and staff are eligible to receive a scholarship from our Smallwood Scholarship Fund. Since the establishment of this fund, more than 400 scholarships totaling over $1 million has been awarded to deserving young people.
